NJ Personal Training Guide: Are Protein Bars Worth it?

“An essential nutrient, protein helps build and repair muscles, hence why many athletes consider protein an essential part of their diet. Protein bars are a convenient (oven-free and even sold at gas stations) way to protein load— some even contain as much protein as a typical chicken breast.  Most manufacturers use soy or whey protein as the main ingredient, both of which have been shown to help athletes gain lean body mass.”

You can find the rest of this great article here.  Just remember that all protein bars are not created equally!  If you are looking for a great source of protein before or after a workout, mix in a teaspoon of peanut butter with your plain oatmeal.  It’s a quick and filling and the peanut butter is a great source of protein.  Best of all it’s a lot cheaper than some of those exotic bars you can buy at the store.  At 4Everfit Personal Training Studio we provide you with realistic nutritional advice along with an individualized one-on-one training program.  Visit our website or email me for more info.
